Oxford University Press has published the new social and economic atlas of the world, depicting the Crimea as a part of the Russian Federation. The Ukrainian embassy in Great Britain posted the news on their Facebook page.
“The Ukrainian embassy strongly urges the publisher to correct the mistake, since the mistakes like these could really ruin OUP’s reputation,” – says the post.
It is worth noting that the French publishing company Larousse has recently published their social and economic atlas of the world, including the Crimea as a part of Russia as well. Last month the Ukrainian embassy filed a note of protest for the same problem to the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan. Later the Ministry of Education of the country promised to make corrections regarding the Crimea’s status, consistent with the viewpoint of the global community and Kazakhstan specifically.
The global community does not recognize the annexation of the Crimea to Russia, which occurred last spring, and continues to consider the peninsula as a part of Ukraine.
