Russia supplies Syria with anti-aircraft missile systems

The Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Force Victor Bondarev told in his interview to the ”Komsomolskaya Pravda” that our country has supplied Syria with anti-aircraft missile systems. The purpose of the supply is a precautionary measure against potential aircraft hijacking.

– We have supplied not only strike planes, battle planes, bombers and helicopters, but anti-aircraft missile systems as well. The reason is to stand against force-majeure, should it happen. Let’s suppose that a battle plane has been hijacked while flying close to Syrian border, and we have been bombed. So, we should be prepared for something like that. – He says.

Looking back, the Russian naval strike force has directed a massive strike at ISIS’ infrastructure objects from the designated area of the Caspian Sea in October, using sea-based complex “Kalibr” cruise missiles.

Target accuracy has not exceeded three meters. The missiles have been launched from missile ships Dagestan, Grad Sviyazhsk, Veliky Ustyug and Uglich.
