A Russian citizen sues a telephone network operator for 614 trillion rubles

А subscriber of the telephone network operator “Rostelecom” Sergei Eksharov filed a lawsuit against the company, claiming the striking amount of 614.3 trillion rubles (10 trillion dollars). According to RBC, the resident of Novosibirsk seeks compensation for moral suffering and moral damage which said company allegedly caused him, demanding to pay the debt for communication services in the amount of 614 rubles and 31 kopecks, made by his father who died in 1989. Reportedly, Eksharov filed a lawsuit in the District Court of Novosibirsk on September 3, and the “Rostelecom” received notice on October 21. The company called the amount of the claim “disproportionate in comparison with the company’s actions” and the probability of Eksharov winning – relatively small. 614 trillion rubles (10 trillion dollars) roughly equals approximately 38 annual budgets of the Russian Federation.
